Fact: Bullying is violence.
Fact: Bullying contributes to mental health problems.
Fact: Bullying is a problem for our society.

Bullying is a pervasive problem worldwide and can have serious consequences for the victim. A recent study of student bullying in New Zealand (Hay-Mackenzie, 2002) reported that of over 800 students (ages 15-16 and from 107 schools):
• 50% had been bullied (other studies report 75%)
• 33% admitted bullying others, and
• 9% stated they were bullied once a week or more.

Bullying can take many forms, and occur in many settings. Bullying is
unacceptable and damaging, and we all need to step up and take action
by telling someone if we observe it occurring.

It is very important to identify the bullying and ACT on it.
